Station 6: Dance, Bee, Dance. Students learn from the volunteer parent about the way a bee communicates in the dark hive the location of flowers that have nectar or pollen for the colony. The bee dance is directional in nature and the prompt that I provide is read to the students and then the parent demonstrates the dance and students practice. Then, a student is selected to place a flower in part of the room while the other students hide their eyes. Then, the dancing “bee” does the dance and uses it to try and help the students guess where the flower is in the room. Kind of like Hide and Seek. Parent volunteer controls the process by having the “bee” take quiet hands of guessers and the selected student can go and find the flower. If the guesser finds the flower, then they become the “bee” and the process is started again. This is repeated until time is over (10 minutes)
